Vaginal Laxity

Vaginal Laxity is topic considered by many women and by our society as a taboo and embarrassing subject to talk about. Hence, women generally choose to avoid talking about this subject (surely, you too had second thoughts before reading this article, didn’t you?).

Vaginal rejuvenation is becoming a common procedure as more women are approaching their gynecologist for assistance. As per recent statistics, the number of vaginal rejuvenation procedures are increasing exponentially. There are more than 60% of vaginal rejuvenation procedures being performed on women aged 20-39 years.

We at Queen’s Gynecology provide some of the best Vaginal laxity treatments in Delhi.

Vaginal changes after childbirth

The Vagina undergoes some changes after giving birth. It feels wider, dry and sore for few weeks. When you give birth, baby travels through the cervix and birth canal, causing the vaginal tissue and musculature to stretch to its maximum capacity. Sometimes, the skin between the vagina and the anus (perineum), is cut in a procedure (known as episiotomy) by your obstetrician. After having a baby, it is common for women to feel their vagina as loose, dry than usual, and have pain during sexual intercourse. Even though Kiegel’s exercises are routinely prescribed after childbirth, many of the symptoms can persist. Most of these changes should subside 6-12 weeks post childbirth, according to NHS, UK. Sometimes, dysparenuia (painful sexual intercourse) can be persistent and hamper a woman’s sexual life.

Post childbirth, it has been noted that the level of oestrogen, especially in breastfeeding women is lower than women who are not breastfeeding. These women are prescribed lubricants for vaginal dryness. Sometimes, this dryness extends even beyond the breastfeeding period.

If the dryness, soreness, wider vagina, painful sex continues to bother you, please talk to a gynecologist trained in the cosmetic procedures recommended for treating the above-mentioned conditions.
